Hope 2008
Many churces throughout the United Kingdom are involved this year in Hope 2008 – you have probably been hearing about some of the projects which have made local and national news (if not – watch out for more over the next few weeks). The vision of Hope 2008 is this: “Churches across the United Kingdom are constantly at work serving and communicating with 58 million residents and many visitors to the United Kingdom. 'Hope' proposes to support this work, by facilitating intensified, united, focused prayer and a year of activities, communicating the Gospel through words and actions, creating a lasting legacy of both physical and spiritual change in the lives of communities and individuals.” Exciting stuff!
As a church, we exist to offer the hope that there is in Jesus Christ to our community, and on Sundays for the next six weeks we will be exploring just what it means to be a people who are ‘Living In Hope’. I am excited that all ages across the church will be exploring the same theme, with all the children’s groups working together on the same subjects as the older members of the congregation. In this way we can all hear from God and celebrate the hope we have in him together in worship. The themes are as follows:
August 31 Psalm 31:1-24 Living In Hope?
September 7 Isaiah 52:13 - 53:12 Easter Hope
September 14 Ephesians 4:1-16 Baptism: One Hope
September 21 Isaiah 40 Creation Hope
September 28 Isaiah 42:18 - 43:21 A Story Of Hope
October 5 Isaiah 55 Heavenly Hope
And don’t forget our very special service on 14th September is a Baptismal Service, when Peter & Margaret Cowdry and Abigail Cook will be baptised! Bring your friends!
